Sturdy Products Limited commenced trading on October 1st 2001 as the successor to Tank Engineering Limited. Tank Engineering had been trading for over twenty years before we split our activities and Sturdy Products Limited took over our Plastics Division business.
Sturdy Products Ltd. is both a manufacturer of its’ own range of rotationally moulded products and a distributor of other market leader products. The main market sectors in which the company trades are Environment, Industrial, Building Construction , Domestic, Agricultural & Equestrian and Custom Moulding.
We serve customers in both public and private sectors in Ireland, the UK and abroad. In the Irish context the company would be classified as SME with turnover in excess of €10.0 M and we employ over 60 staff.
Background
Tank Engineering Limited, the predecessor of Sturdy Products, was established in 1981. The main aim was to establish the company as a major supplier of industrial water storage tanks to the Irish market. In 1986 We decided to expand our operation at that stage, into the manufacture of plastic products by the rotational moulding process. From our first 12,000 sq ft premises at Blessington, we have developed our business and now offer our customers a complete package, from product development to supply of moulds and the manufacture of high quality volume products.
Growth
Since 1986, the plastics division of the company has developed and prospered, with additional plant being installed, and extensions to the original company plant. The company has focused on its main areas of activity - the manufacture of plastic products and Industrial Tanks. Also, other companies have been developed and formed as seperate entities: Returnbatt Ltd., T.E. Laboratories and Ex-Pat Placements. The management of T.E. Laboratories has since bought out the company. This took place in 2005 and we wish them every success for the future.
In 1995, the company constructed our second purpose built manufacturing plant in Blessington and installed a new state of the art rotational moulding machine. A second such machine was installed mid 1997, the company has continued to expand since then in both production capabilities and premises. In 2004 we again expanded with a move to our latest 35,000sq/ft facility on 4 acres.
Uniqueness
It should be noted that STURDY PRODUCTS LTD. is unique in the rotational moulding field in Ireland. The company has unique capabilities in large moulding and is the only company in Ireland with facilities to mould up to 4 metres in length The company manufactures plastic tanks up to 10,000 litres in capacity, and now manufactures over two hundred different products, in many diverse fields.
Sales
The sales force comprises of 8 field sales executives in the plastic division. With turnover now exceeding €10,000,000 per annum, the company has grown consistently since incorporation. The company is run on a "small company tight control" basis and this has attributed to its success to date, both financially and in terms of customer satisfaction.
Every customer is important to Sturdy Products Ltd. and this is demonstrated by the effort we make to ensure we meet our customers needs.
Goals
In our business we have the two main goals of providing a safe and healthy environment for our employees and of satisfying the requirements of our customers. In order to achieve these goals we operate work practices in line with government approved health and safety standards but we also operate a quality assurance system (ISO 9001:2000) to ensure that the needs of our customers are satisfied, but above all we focus our efforts on providing product and services that meet our customer requirements.
All three manufacturing facilities and head office are situated in Blessington, Co. Wicklow, Ireland.
